Walmart • Scan & Go

Scan & Go allows users to scan their items with their phones as they shop. My role in this project was to help improve the in-store shopping experience. A more consistent and user-friendly interface along with illustrations was created to make a more engaging initial contact with the app.

I was constantly working in collaboration with the UX team, QA team, and developers, as well as providing support for UX research at Toronto-GTA stores during user testings.

Besides designing the specific screens below, there was extensive work that helped align all illustrations of the Design system with the same colour palette and overall design style.

SCAN & GO APP

PROJECT SUMMARY + MY ROLE:

The Walmart Scan & Go app allows users to scan their items with their phones as they shop. My role in this project was to help improve the in-store shopping experience by increasing customer engagement.

During this project, I collaborated with developers and the QA team, supporting UX research at Toronto-GTA stores.

CHALLENGES + METHODOLOGIES:

After several user interviews, I noticed customers needed a better understanding of how the app worked without an associate’s support. If they couldn’t find an associate, their solution was to ignore the app and go to Self-checkout instead. As a result of that research, I created user flows to investigate all the possible paths before users started to scan their products.

OUTCOMES:

I simplified the whole process into a smooth onboarding experience, creating a user-friendly interface with engaging illustrations. I also worked on aligning all Design System illustrations to ensure they shared a consistent colour palette and style
